BURN IT DOWN! gathers testimonies of organizers, attendees, and performers of the infamous Woodstock '99 — though I think the word "infamous" only just scratches the surface. What was meant to reawaken the spirit of the original Woodstock, thirty years prior in 1969, turned into a man-made catastrophe, signaling the ways in which "a new cultural zeitgeist raged." Woodstock '99 was part Fyre Festival, part Lord of the Flies, part riotous male rage, part dangerous nostalgia, and several parts a society at odds with itself.
